Dominican Trip January 2009
Hola everyone if you are interested I will be posting a note every chance I get to update our trip and status. Well we arrived here in the Dominican Republic just in time for a great BIG New Year's Celebration with fireworks and bonfires in the street! Our first experience really being kinda on our own(We have Johan a native Dominican 16 yr old young man of God as our GPS) we got lost heading out of SDQ airport but found a really great place to eat and by God's grace we stopped to buy groceries and still made really good time to Barahona. Turns out the driving skills(or lack therof) that I have aquired in the US are a kin to those employed by the driving populous here in the DR and some have said I drive like a native. I am still trying to figure out if that is a compliment. The BIGGEST news I have to share so far actually occured the night BEFORE we left to come here. In preperation for our trip we had set aside some time as a family to pray specifically for our time here. We were in the middle of talking about God's call and sharing on what we have to give to the people here(Jesus, Love, Grace,Truth,etc...)and my precious Kylie(10yrs old) asked me how she could share her faith. This led a discussion about repentence, forgiveness, regeneration, baptism (of course I used smaller words with them) and ultimately Charis (5 yrs old)whispered in my ear that she wanted to ask Jesus to be Lord of her life BUT she did not want to get baptised until she was older(She has a fear of going under water)Shalom(7yrs old) also said she wanted to receive Christ and make Him Lord of her life and Shalom wants to be baptized!Anyway we are so stoked on Jesus and His goodness to our familia. Please keep praying for this trip and that the Lord will have His way in us and through us. Please Keep Noah,Sarah and Abigail in your prayers as well. There is also a team coming from Calvary Chapel Delta later this week.We serve a great God!We prayed for the girls and then they prayed to recieve the Lord! How awesome is that?

A blog! Fantastic! I've been wanting to find out what's been up with you guys... We'll be praying for you in the DR!
ReplyDeleteI just put your blog on my favorites list so I can check it frequently. Great news about Charis and Shalom! Bryce was baptized last year, and Dillon asked Jesus into his heart back in the fall. Have a Spirit-filled trip!
